At the time of the arrest, Gilliam reportedly registered a .107 blood alcohol level.
The actor was then taken to the Fayette County Jail where he was charged with a DUI, drug possession and speeding.
Gilliam was traveling near Senioa, Ga., which is where The Walking Dead is filmed.
The actor, who has also appeared on episodes of The Good Wife, The Wire and MTV's Teen Wolf was released after posting a $9,818 bond.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sixth season of the AMC series is currently in production.
The network declined to comment to the magazine regarding whether the arrest will impact filming.
