Swyft beds first came on the market earlier this year as the much-awaited sequel - of sorts - to the brand's coveted sofa collection. If you've read our Swyft sofa review, you'll know we're big fans of the ‘no tools required’ business model, so to discover that they've now added a bed iteration to their homeware repertoire (and mattresses !!) was a wonderful bit of news to receive, even if we were a bit late to the party.
The products: Swyft bed 01 and bed 02
Naturally, much like their sofas, the Swyft beds - in two models, 01 and 02 - have been selling out left, right and centre. Buyers have the choice of a winged headboard in bed 02 or, alternatively, a more classic pin tuck style in bed 01. The latter comes in a bit cheaper at £795 compared to £995 for the 02 but, for both models, customers will have a choice of two materials and seven colourways.
So, what's so special about these velvety soft sleep solutions? If you've ever built a flat-pack bed before, then you'll know the struggle of fiddling about with 150 different sized screws and the one screwdriver your dad gave you as a token gesture when you first moved away from home. No more, say Swyft. Their unique Swyft-fix technology means that buyers need only slot the two side pieces into the perpendicular headboard without so much as one Phillips screw. There is, however, a handful of screws (eight, to be precise) involved when it comes to getting the sprung slats into place as well as to secure the bed as a whole, but this was really no bother, if you ask us. Speaking of us, let's get into our Swyft bed review…
BED 01 Double Bed BED 02 Double BedReviewer

The assignment
Much like our model 06 two-seater sofa review, for the Swyft model 02 bed - the variation I opted for in the teal colourway - we were dealing with limited space, both in terms of compact doorways and twisty-turny narrow hallways. Not ideal. The Swyft bed-in-a-box was going to need to arrive in small enough separate packages for me to get them into the bedroom at the back of my one-bed flat and easy enough for me to assemble before my boyfriend arrives home from work; god forbid I cave and ask him for help…
The process
Amazingly, Swyft can deliver everything from your double bed frame of choice to an ottoman footstool or new sofa bed in as little as 24 hours. Yep, that's right, you can transform your home with next day delivery and, what's more, the brand that Swyft use to fulfil the sending out of their orders will even email you with your own dedicated delivery time, so you can fit the order around your day-to-day errands. For me, this meant I could go into the office at lunchtime after my swish new velvet fabric bed had been delivered in the morning and, the best part? Panther - the delivery company - even disposed of all the clunky cardboard. After all, it's not like my entranceway had the space for boxes anyway!
In terms of the actual practicality of assembling the solid wood frame, I didn't struggle. As mentioned, there were a couple screws involved, but it needn't become a drill necessary/tool assembly and, as the brand's DIY video guide shows, you can ‘swiftly’ twist in the few screws by hand. Pas de problème.
Our Swyft bed review verdict
Paired with one of the best mattresses, in short, the Swyft Bed 02 is a real delight to sleepover in and, come Sunday, let me tell you I will be happily snoozing well into the middle of the day. The velvety upholstery is oh-so-cosy and, for sleepers that run hot, I have no doubt that the midnight or pumice linen fabrics would be just the pick for them.
For me, I love the illusion of space that comes with the raised base on bed 02 but, if space is at a premium and you aren't lucky enough to have a living room or bedroom cupboard for all your spare mattress toppers and bed linen, then the fact that bed 01 has a bit more integrated storage under the slats - being flush to the floor - will certainly be a bonus. And, let's not forget the wonder that is the Swyft stain resistant fabrics. Indeed, most of the Swyft fabric options (which you can order a free swatch box of, by the way) will allow you that extra ounce of peace of mind on Thursday curry night and, what's more, if you're not convinced, you can of course add on a furniture protection plan. For me, the 15-year frame guarantee is ample enough and, overall, I've been practically bowed over by the quality of Swyft's products, right through from my initial seaglass-coloured sofa to the two-seater sofa bed my mum ended up ordering off the back of my rave reviews.
