Three men have been arrested after a 26 year old man was assaulted in Maidstone town centre.

He was found unconscious and with serious head injuries on Mote road, not far from The Cricketers pub last night.
Paramedics took him to Maidstone hospital, but he was later transferred to King's Colllege Hospital in London where he has undergone surgery. He is now in a critical condition.

Local roads around the area, Mote Road junction with Hastings Road, Watt Tyler Way and Kingsley Road were closed for a time while forensic teams search for evidence. They were reopened at around 4.30am, although a small area in Mote Road remains cordoned off.Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 9.30pm and 10.30pm and who may have seen what happened to get in contact with them.
Two men, aged 26 and 27 have been arrested on suspicion of assault. A 24 year old is being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three are from the Maidstone area.
